The Scent of Vapour Rub

The scent of vapour rub is instantly recognisable: a sharp, cooling blend of menthol, eucalyptus and camphor. For many people, it brings back memories of being cared for during a cold, with a small amount rubbed onto the chest or neck before bed. Its strong aroma can make breathing feel more comfortable when the nose is blocked, although it does not cure the underlying cold. The fragrance is clean, medicinal and warming at the same time, lingering gently in a room or on pyjamas long after it has been applied. Because vapour rubs can be powerful, they should always be used according to the instructions on the pack, particularly when used around children.
